Axie Infinity announced the launch of a new ERC20 token, Bonded AXS (bAXS), which will serve as a reserve for AXS. bAXS will have the same utility as AXS, including staking and in-game functions. The project will conduct two airdrops, with 100,000 bAXS being distributed to wallets that staked at least 10 AXS as of February 5, 00:01 UTC. Staking bAXS will increase airdrop weight for the second round. Axie Homeland will be replaced by Terrariums, with a minimum viable product (MVP) expected in Q2 2026. At that time, bAXS will be launched, and players will be able to earn rewards through in-game actions.

Odaily Planet News: Axie Infinity announced in an official blog post that AXS will serve as the reserve currency for the new application token, Bonded AXS (bAXS). As an ERC20-C token, bAXS has the same utility functions as AXS, including Axie evolution, breeding, crafting items on App.axie, and staking.

The project team will conduct two airdrops of bAXS to AXS stakers and based on Axie Score. The first airdrop pool consists of 100,000 bAXS, with a snapshot taken at 00:01 UTC on February 5. Eligibility for claiming requires staking at least 10 AXS in a wallet. Details for the second airdrop are yet to be determined, but staking the bAXS received from the first airdrop will increase a wallet's weight for the second airdrop.

In addition, Axie Homeland will be gradually shut down and replaced by the new land-based game, Terrariums. Terrariums is expected to launch its MVP version in the second quarter of 2026, at which time bAXS will officially be released. Players will be able to earn bAXS rewards through various in-game activities in Terrariums.
